Upper West Side Residence
NewYork, New York

The strategy in renovating this compact apartment was to give the rooms' perimeters a sleek, well-defined surface and to allow only a few objects to stand in the space. In the kitchen, the refrigerator was built into a niche in the neighboring room, in a wall of cabinetry. All cabinets are pull-outs for greatest efficiency. In the bathroom, which faces an airshaft on a lower floor, reflective materials such as glass tile and subtle integrated lighting give luminescence to the whole room.
